The NSCF had its first event of the 2013-2014 tournament season. 87 players participated in seven USCF rated sections. The sections cover a broad range of ages, experience and ratings. In the K/1 section there was Chase Hurst a pre-K student from Greenwich Country Day.

For the past eight years, NSCF has partnered with the US Chess Trust to present the National Chess Scholar Awards.

With an increased focus on providing chess instruction for many more children regardless of income and for creating programs that help advance chess in education nationwide, NSCF is developing its fundraising capacity and is planning our next fundraiser for Fall 2014. We hope from there to make this an annual event.
